In plastic industry, people use impact modifier to achieve better properties performance. Impact modifiers used to improve the impact performance of engineering plastics, such as polyesters, polyamides and polycarbonate blends.

They provide an excellent balance of impact resistance, modulus and viscosity with an extraordinary good retention of heat distortion temperatures.

Bio-plastic, however, has inferior properties than normal plastic including the impact strength & flexure modulus, which make it indispensable to use the impact modifier during the production.

When making thermoforming cups/containers, there will be waste sheet after the cups/ containers were made. In Taiwan, factories always add around 30%-40% waste material for next production. It’s the same way when factories produce products with conventional plastics.

However, PLA is a material with light yellow color and less flexibility comparing to PP, PET which are used to make thermoforming products. By doing so, the final products break easily.

100% Biodegradable Impact Modifier for PLA Paper Board Coating

Coffee cups are traditionally lined with PE (Polyethylene), which is a petrochemical based coating of plastic used to prevent leakage in a disposable paper cup. PE plastics are made of oil which is generated from a non-renewable resource, fossils.

Although PE is a recyclable material, most coffee cups end up in landfills and are never recycled. Therefore, many paper board manufacturers have started to use PLA material for replacement of PE coating.
Different from PE material, PLA coating process generates some problems which make the production harder.

First, PE material flows down straight on the paper board while neck-in effect happens when using PLA for coating. It’s hard to match the flow PLA & the paper board, and it always ends up wasting lots of PLA & paper.

Second, to ensure the adhesion of PLA to the paper board, factories usually make thicker coating comparing to PE. It, therefore, causes high extra cost.

HZ-211 biodegradable impact modifier is designed to solve above problems which helps factories reduce huge cost.

How we solve problems:

1. Decrease neck-in effect of PLA paper board coating(2-3cm each side by using 10%)

2. Improve adhesion of PLA & paper which reduce the coating weight(decrease 2-3 grams/m2)

3. Save huge raw material cost.

Plant Fiber Reinforced Material

Rice is the staple in many countries, and the annual production capacity of rice is very huge around the world while burning waste rice husk has caused serious air pollution.
Aquaculture is a well-developed industry in Taiwan.
Oyster is the major products of aquaculture in the west of Taiwan, and it yield 160 thousand tons of waste oyster shell every year which is a serious pollution source.
BACK TO BASICS recycled these waste materials, and turn them into valuable material. We follow our faith to be zero waste & environmentally friendly.
Recycle: We collect waste natural resources like rice husk & oyster shell.
Reuse: We combine the rice husk powder & oyster shell powder with PP or biodegradable material, and we make them into 2 grades: extrusion & injection.
Reduce: Using plant fiber could significantly reduce the carbon emission during the productions, which is no doubt a key action toward our goal of being environmentally friendly.

Biodegradable General Grade Material

We provide a thermoplastic fiber-grade resin derived from annually renewable resources. Available in lubricated pellet form, it is designed for meltblown products using conventional as well as high pressure die meltblown equipment. Our material can be converted into a broad range of fiber products. It can also be used on meltblown equipment with high pressure die systems providing a broader processing window. Melt temperature can be used to reduce melt viscosity and provide adequate pressures on conventional meltblown systems.
